Marching to the Truth

I am extremely happy with my site. As traffic increases substantially, I’ve been exchanging emails with people (from countries I don’t know how to spell) who were led to mycorrectview following a link their friends forwarded them. However, I must express my utter disgust with people who contended what I said on Jealous Guy. It’s not so much the contention that raised my hackles, it’s the way it was opposed: “Just because we were jealous when we were young doesn’t make it right. As you mature, you learn that true love is not jealous even if you feel that way because we are entitled to our own happiness.”

Believe it or not, there were 12 who presented the same self-defeating point which must have gotten Einstein rolling in his grave and perhaps made him want to restate what he said “We are using only 10% of our brain power...and lot less in the case of the 12.” Some people, obviously, do not even know they have one.

As a species with reputed brain power, I almost felt despondent for humans because of them until last week.

Coming out of a boardroom after a meeting, I saw a lady---perhaps the sharpest, youngest 65 years old I’ve ever met--- going about her spreadsheets the stone age fashion: long sheets of paper laid out on the table, using only a calculator and a pencil to balance vast complex financial reports. While waiting, I chatted with her about her “unusual gift”. I couldn’t help but marvel at her refusal to use Excel and a computer. More incredibly, I learned that she does not use the phonebook of her mobile phone: she keys in the numbers whenever she needs to call or send SMS.

Before she went off for lunch, she said something I’ve been thinking about since “Don’t be amazed. I only happen to make a conscious effort not to forget a skill we all have.”

I’ve thought about it and I couldn’t agree more. People allow the tools they are given to replace completely what it was made only to complement which, in the process, makes them forget and inactivate certain powers they are born with.

In the old days, when someone gives you contact details, without writing them down, you know it’s in your brain, the hard drive of your body. And when you need to call, you rely on your memory to instantaneously “bring out” the number. That’s not the case at all these days. Not only do people depend on the RAM (memory) of their mobile phones and other gadgets for contact details, a lot of people do not even know their own mobile number!

Indispensability of these devices has slowly corroded our memory to uselessness. As unreliable as it has become, developments suggest it will only get worse. Before, when people went off some place, they relied on that inner voice called intuition to lead them from being lost to getting on the right track. Now, they rely on that inner component of their handheld device called GPS chip that’s on most smartphones these days (user interface is best on the iPhone though), which allows them to receive directions from a satellite to get them from point A to point B.

What we have inactivated or made dormant by depending entirely on our gadgets are a tinge of the features the brain innately possesses! Think about that for a moment. The brain---acknowledged as still the best and fastest computer----has enormous power to store and instantly make available larger amounts of data. It is designed with a “GPS” for directions and judgment. And yet, as amazing as they are, physicists today are proving that humans---with its human operating system called mind---possess gifts that could enable them to do feats they have come to accept as myth or legend dwarfing the “RAM” and “GPS” of the brain in terms of benefits!

I’ve seen a little of this first hand but documentaries abound on people who still practice the way of life of their ancestors i.e. mental telepathy, intention healing, prayers that call forth rain, superpositions, and so on. And there is a commonality among such people: culture from the earliest generation is still in its pristine form today. They honor this knowledge, this way of life passed on to them by actualizing it, living it and ensuring that it will live on in subsequent generations.

In other words, they remain empowered because they refuse to forget and rely only on this power!

For this month, I hope to be of help in your quest, not to discover, but remember who you are, remember the truth about your SELF, remember how to call forth this power and remember how to rely more on brain power than our gadgets just like the old lady I talked to...whose name I’ve already forgotten.

Always has.

To most people, that statement evokes a mental image of the frenzy of exchanging cards, giving roses, reservation at French restos... banalities of February 14. To the well-versed few, they just pictured Asterius’ daughter reading a note that says “from your Valentine.”

But for the mad community and historian-wannabes such as myself, it dates 800 years prior to the establishment of Valentine’s day.

But before I jump into that, allow me to express, as I do every month, my appreciation to those who seemingly have developed the habit of visiting mycorrectview and regularly sending me emails. And like I always do every month, I post the gist of your messages here and use your username (without disclosing your domain) to at least indicate the sender. However, I uncharacteristically inadvertently deleted some of the emails (I’m sorry) just before I backed up with my Time Machine. I hope this blunder does not dissuade you from writing me more in the future. For those messages, I’ll just write “from sender”

“For somebody who is obviously not a Windows fan, you and Bill Gates have the same opinion on the Google-China issue” from j.brandson on China’s Not Googley for Google.
Yep, I’ve read his interview on this issue. While Im no Windows fan, I’ve always admired Bill’s business acumen. As I’ve said time and again, the computer / tech industry won’t be where it is today were it not for Microsoft’s business model.

“Are you going to buy a tablet (iPad)?” from Sender on That “Tablet” Hype.
Not before the second generation. Although the superlatives Steve and Apple use to describe the user experience with were never an exaggeration, I don’t see it revolutionary enough and prompt me to get one from the first generation as I did with the iPhone. Plus, if you listened to Jobs’ interview in the years past (and read between the lines)---where he said “even though video call would have worked better on the iPhone than any 3G phone, we don’t think it’s a captivating app on a 3.5 in. screen and it compromises the battery a lot”---it envisages must-have features the 2nd generation iPad will have.

“I see you smoking a cigar. Is that a Tacabalera? You can still buy ‘em?” from Lizza on Una’s 5th Birthday.
What an incisive observation! Yes it is a Tabacalera. And yes I can still get them. Hopefully, they won’t close shop.

“I like your website. Why don’t you set up your Google Adsense? I can help you if you like” from Sender2.
Thanks for the offer. You’re not the first to suggest this but I do this as a form of expression, literature, poetry, memoirs, and making money off it is the last in my list. If I wanted to, it’s super easy. This site is made on iWeb.
***

I still hold the same lofty friendship standards but reading and answering your emails every night makes it feel like I do have new friends and it feels good. I am amused, sometimes intellectually challenged, sometimes pissed...by the emails I receive.

“You looked better unshaven” (from erm.wboo on Tabacalera More Than a Smoke)
This is first time anyone emailed me on how I looked and not about the entry...my Mom disagrees but thanks.

“I thought I was reading Untopia again with “wrongs” in 2012. (from my good friend Akisha, whom I hope to visit this year now that H1N1 alert has subsided)
I couldn’t help but laugh on this one. Some things about me never change: I love it or I despise it. You’re a genius or a bozo. It’s black or white. By the way, thank you for keeping copy of Dracula Love Never Dies entry. I’ll republish it here with a few revisions.

“I find myself reading again and again your entry on Masai Warriors. You should too. It’s inspiring.” (from Lizza on The Masai Warriors)
That entry was so lengthy that even Geraldine did not bother to read it. And to hear someone (other than myself) has read it completely and repeatedly is just heartwarming. I don’t read any of my entries again including the Masai Warriors. But my meeting and connection with John is a special 2009 moment. I listen to our conversations on my iPhone regularly when I’m driving, sometimes during workout. (By the way, if you’re serious in seeing them, tell your husband to make the trip in July so I could finally meet you. I intend to go back on my birthday to experience the Wildebeest Migration).
***

From start to finish, 2009 was a super year. If it was a business, it would have been a record-breaking one! No month or quarter was a slouch. It can be likened to a digital content (no marginal cost) that was purchased countless times. The result? Unprecedented, astronomical sales.

Although I was all business all year long, 2009 was a spiritual quest for me. As I look back, I can’t thank the universe enough for the perfect year it was: meeting perfect people who changed me forever (like John who verbalized what was in my unconscious), perfect meaningful coincidences resulting in meeting business partners of my madness, (finally) experiencing a mystical experience, perfect shoes, perfect clothes, perfect revolutionary ideas and, best of all, my daughter Toondy, a perfect gift we received on June 24, 2009.
***

For The (Yuletide) Record

I love what I do. All the analysis, the seeing of the future and, to a certain extent, the “pressure”... they provide solace for me. I can’t think of any place more peaceful than being in front of my Mac, writing business plans or plotting spreadsheets or conducting business presentations. Most of the time, I don’t want to let it go and stop even for a brief moment.

Perhaps this is why I need mycorrectview. Among other reasons, it is a different kind of sanctuary...one that provides a balance I badly need especially in an uncommonly busy (albeit lucrative) month like November. And just like any blogger / writer, the increasing “readership” my site gets gives enormous gratification.

Used to be, I see this simply as a journal but lately, it feels like mycorrectview is a person I talk to as I read and respond to the emails I get before I turn in. Allow me to share a few of them:

Google is now the “Microsoft” of the Internet. You have a better shot at changing the world with Microsoft. (from migzee88, Is Microsoft Relevant?)
In terms of industry dominance, yes Google in a preeminent position. But culture-wise? They are still on a start up mode based on stories of employees themselves. Microsoft’s culture of always digging on its heels about everything is immutable. My interest is not in Google per se. I’m interested in their office in Mountain View :-)

I thought I was a crackpot or something for experiencing this...it’s good that you have them too. What was that experience? (from mBelen, Synched By The Universe)
I’ll create an entry on this one. I’ve been meaning to share this. I’ll publish it this week. Stay tuned.

“Why is the boxer the hero? Eren is great man and popular here (Moscow)” (from anitaKV, Efren Peñaflorida: Larger Than Hype)
Efren’s contribution is truly heroic and I can understand why everyone thinks the world of him. Not to take anything from Pacquiao, I can’t see his heroism either.

On Beautiful Moment, Thank You from 48 senders
Jen so loved this! I’ve read it more than I can count. It’s the only entry I “made” which did not get any negative comment (except for a “naughty” one from Clarisse who wrote “This poem is sweet...is WonderWoman your girlfriend?”) Maybe WonderWoman should take over my site ;-)

I saw your link from my friend’s wall (facebook). Your site’s interesting, insightful and snobby at times. You seem to be having a great time all the time. (from jamjam.beh)
If you didn’t say wall, I wouldn’t assume you’re Kat’s friend because she’s the only one I know of who said would put my site on her wall. Yes I always have a great time. It’s amazing even to me. It’s not only a result of choices but I have so much love energy to make that choice constantly.

***

Exciting Awakening

Welcome to mycorrectview this month of November 2009.

Before I dive into anything, allow me to say that you guys made October 2009 a heck of a month and I am extremely thankful.

Although it is nowhere close to untopia’s, numbers of mycorrectview, launched a little less than 3 months ago, are pretty impressive (503 average daily visits with a high of 839). Not spending a dollar to promote it, these numbers were decidedly racked up by you who forward links to entries or point mycorrectview to your friends.

What’s more special are the emails I’ve been receiving (even though at times some are accusatory of something I wouldn’t do in a million years or something I am not). Sure I do get emails from, judging from the hands down preposterous content (that I wouldn’t share with you because it’s such a waste of our brain cells), organisms incapable of thinking more critically than amoeba---that’s nothing at all compared to the ones that are galactically more sensible, ones that prove intelligent life is really here on Earth.

Here are some of them:

Like you I belong to the Twilight Zone era and I remember that episode but not the details. Why do you remember it so well? From carolyn
I am incapable of forgetting ☺ The episode is such a beautiful love story and is a reminder to all of us of our past. I think Einstein, who said “the difference in time is but an illusion. The past and the future coexist / happen with the present.” would have loved this episode too. It requires mad love to see through the illusion and love the same person for more than 400 years.

It’s good that you’re putting yourself out there, your humanity (in So Happy 2 & The Kantian Good). Readers feel it when you are unguarded like in the photo. From Lizza
Lizza, my number one reader ☺, you’re following my site more closely than anyone on the planet. I am flattered. Thanks. I don’t know what to say on “unguarded”. You put too big an egg on my face to comment.

I watched Immortal Beloved, I cried when....(I purposely did not mention the scene as I don’t want to give the movie away). I listen to love songs everyday but I can’t imagine dedicating a classical music to my girl. From Kentrave16
Excluding the gobbledygooked messages, I’ve received a total of 164 emails (to date) on Immortal Beloved. Let me just say that: (a) I have nothing against pop music (b) I won’t apologize for anything because there’s nothing I should be apologetic about. I learned in life that the best way to show your insincerity is to say “if I offended you, I am sorry” because it does not acknowledge any fault (c) I wrote my reflections on the masterpiece because I wanted to, because I was moved myself...if it made you question your life position in a positive or negative fashion, perhaps it really should. Questioning is enlightenment’s first step.

There are songs with great lyrics and soulful rendition e.g. Barry Mannilow’s “If You Were Here with Me Tonight”. You probably could relate to some parts of it but entirely? I doubt it. For someone who loves the night and loves to be immersed in the moment, I never said “How long before the light of day, helps to chase these thoughts away”. So to me, no one song was ever a song for someone (unless you wrote it yourself). People say “that song is for you” when they meant “you remind me of that song”. For me, because I listen to it meditatively, it’s easier to be drifted to thoughts of someone while listening to Classical music. The exception of course are “Nobody Does It Better”, “Love Will Keep Us Together” and “The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face”...they’re almost sacred ;-)

You are playing God to believe we can control weather conditions with our brain power. You crossed the line. From ira.chloe
(The sender is talking about Our Consciousness Over Storms.) Hmmm. If I did, what is wrong with playing the God whose image I am created in? Is stopping Typhoon Ondoy by playing God blasphemous? Open your Bible to Psalm 82:6. I know there are people who’d opt to interpret the verse in a manner that separates God and Humankind but not me. A separatist’s interpretation not only bastardized the truth, it obscured our vision to see our Divinity.

Pardon the lexical note. There’s a big difference between brain power and mind power. Mind power is what Jesus employed to calm the storm.
***
